| 51. Endued with
a pure reason, controlling the self with firmness, abandoning sound and other
objects, and laying aside love and hatred ; Pure: free from illusion (maya),
from doubt and misconception. Reason (buddhi): the determining faculty. The
Self: the aggregate of the body and the senses. abandoning etc.: (as we should
understand from the context) all superfluous luxuries, alt objects except those
only which are necessary for the bare maintenance of the body, and laying aside
load and hatred even for those objects which appear necessary for the maintenance
of the body. With a view to bring into existence something that does not already
exist by means of an act enjoined in the Sruti. Then, |

| 51. One who has obtained the
Siddhi (result- ant state or fulfillment) of jama, having control over the
mind with steadfastness and having with- drawn it from outside objects, being
without likes and dislikes, implantation moderation in food and recreation,
being engrossed always in Dhyana Yoga (contemplation on the Self) in a solitary
place, being with out the notions of `I and `Mine will become a deserving person
for attaining the essential nature of Brahman (Brahma Swaroopa). |
